Sacramento Kings New Head Coach and My New Cameras
But looking forward to covering him as he coaches the Kings. As many of these press conferences can be a bit boring visually, and I have to find ways to be creative with two talking heads in front of the branded backdrop. I enjoyed "placing" the crown on his head. Seemed appropriate as he's the new king of the Kings :)
It was also my first time shooting a USA Today Sports Images assignment with my "new" Olympus cameras an OM-D E-M5 Mark II and OM-D E-M1. New is a generous term considering I bought them last year, I used for a couple photos during the Sugar Bowl, it was the only camera I took to Hawaii, and I've been tinkering around with them around the house. But using them on a deadline assignment, this was a first!
I'm still getting comfortable with them and changing the settings on the fly, I could more or less change all the settings on my Canon camera blindfolded. But with an event like this, I knew I would have the time to arrive, dial in color balance, ISO, shutter speed and aperture and for the most part, leave it, through the duration of the press conference.
These babies still aren't ready for sports, and I fear they never will be, but I've been MOSTLY happy with them at events and over the moon happy about their weight!
