NBA Finals: Warriors Lead 2-0
We are getting so spoiled with Warriors going to the NBA Finals the last four consecutive years. And it's all familiar as they again face the Cleveland Cavaliers.
With a lot of talk about the Warriors winning it all in 4, we expected Game 1 to be a lopsided game, but it proved to be MUCH more exciting.
And ultimately an overtime win for the Warriors.
Side note, driving home heard a great forum episode on How Today's Athletes are Playing Harder, Faster, Longer, worth a listen!
Game 2, proved to be the blowout we expected.
While the on-court action isn't dramatically different, they are still playing basketball, these games are an entirely different ball game for photographers. New credentials, new security protocol, new assigned seating. Showing up hours early staying hours post-game. Covering fans and warm-ups pregame much more thoroughly than I ever would regular season. Covering post-game pressers which I don't think I've ever covered in a regular season game (only pregame when injuries or major news is announced). And having a card runner and on-site editor so I can focus on shooting and don't have to worry about transmitting images during a game. Thanks to Miquel Jacobs for being my card runner and Gary Vasquez for editing my take.
While sometimes it seems (as Steph Curry said unrelated in his press conference) "Much Ado About Nothing" it's great to witness the best players playing their best games and it's so fun to have my "coworkers" who I rarely see all get together to cover a game.
We'll see if we come back or if Warriors do indeed win it in four. Just in case we took some fun photos of our crew. Credit to Jose Carlos Fajardo for the USA Today Sports Images crew photo and Cary Emdondson for the photos of me jumping... and retaking them with a tucked in my shirt, much less scandalous! ;)
